PR Week UK, Friday, 29 October 2004, 12:00am,
BBC business editor Jeff Randall was named Communicator of the Year at the PRWeek Awards ceremony on Tuesday.
Randall, a former editor of Sunday Business who joined the BBC in 2001, was given the award for his ‘unique, lucid analysis’ of the biggest financial stories of the year, such as Philip Green’s attempted takeover of Marks & Spencer and the sacking of media baron Lord Conrad Black.
The annual awards, which took place at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London’s Park Lane, also saw Lansons Communications win Consultancy of the Year.
The agency turned in an operating profit of more than £1m on turnover of more than £5m in 2003 and was honoured for its successful pitch and client retention record, as well as its ‘inclusive approach to staff management’.
The award for Campaign of the Year went to Lexis Public Relations for its work on Domino’s Pizza Franchise Millionaires. The campaign, which centred around real franchise success stories, resulted in a 7.4 per cent increase in pizza sales.
Eurostar director of comms Paul Charles won PR Professional of the Year.
