Thunderbirds to brand browsers
Marketing, Wednesday, 21 July 2004, 12:00am,
United International Pictures (UIP) is to promote its Thunderbirds film with a pioneering online campaign that will place advertising on internet users' browsers.
The branded browser, called Ooqa Ooqa, replaces the standard grey toolbar when users visit websites involved in the activity, such as www.citv.co.uk.
Ooqa Ooqa can be used in the same way as a normal browser, while delivering movie information.
The campaign, developed by digital agency Outrider, is the first stage of a deal between Ooqa Ooqa's developers, United Virtualities, and UIP that will see a minimum of 10 movies promoted across Europe, Asia Pacific and South America.
Thunderbirds, which is a live-action version of the cult 60s TV show, opens this week.
UIP ran an online campaign promoting Shrek 2 earlier this month.
