CIM touts record rise in spending
Marketing, Wednesday, 16 June 2004, 12:00am,
Senior marketers are predicting the biggest-ever increase in marketing spend in the next year, the latest sign that the industry is nearing the end of the ad recession.
The predictions are made in the Chartered Institute of Marketing's latest Marketing Trends survey, which revealed that sales are forecast to increase by an 'almost unprecedented rate of 9.2%'. The study showed that marketing spend was set to nearly double compared with this year, with a rise of 5.8%, as marketers planned to invest their budgets to capitalise on the long-awaited recovery.
Growth is predicted for all sectors, with vehicles and the electrical consumer goods sectors likely to show the biggest increase in sales.
