Glasgow in Virgin Trains link-up
PR Week UK, Friday, 18 June 2004, 12:00am,
Greater Glasgow & Clyde Valley Tourist Board’s campaign to rebrand Glasgow as a city of style has been boosted by Virgin Trains, which has named one of its new trains City of Glasgow.
Further co-branding deals are currently being discussed between the tourist board and the private sector, which are expected to provide a boost to the £1.5m campaign launched in March.
Tourist board director of PR Nancy McLardie said: ‘This allows our message to travel a lot further than the initial £1.5m marketing communications campaign can buy.’
Virgin Trains CEO Chris Green welcomed the new Glasgow brand at a train-naming ceremony at Central Station last month.
