Edinburgh editor joins HBOS team

HBOS has hired Edinburgh Evening News business editor Gareth Mackie to join its six-strong media relations team.
Mackie reports to head of media relations Mark Hemingway and replaces Chris Sonne who left last year to join Co -op Insurance.
Hemingway said the team was responsible for distributing information on all retail products for Halifax and the Bank of Scotland.
He said the banks were constantly releasing new services that needed to be explained to personal finance journalists on national, regional and specialist titles, and needed to act as commentators on financial and housing issues.
Mackie joined Edinburgh Evening News in January 2003 after Scottish financial paper Business am closed.
