Alan Whicker to star in TV ad campaign
Marketing, Thursday, 18 December 2003, 12:00am,
Alan Whicker, the presenter of iconic TV travel show Whicker's World, is the star of a TV ad campaign for online travel firm Travelocity in the first creative work for the brand from Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy. One 40-second and three ten-second executions air from January 5. One shows a frazzled-looking office worker sitting at her desk. She opens a drawer, hears the Whicker's World theme tune and finds Whicker inside, explaining to her how Travelocity can help her jet out of there. The scene switches to a Tokyo sushi bar, where he appears on a conveyor belt in front of an English couple and salutes them for choosing Travelocity. Media was planned and bought by Klondike and Universal McCann respectively.
