Crisis announces Flannagan as its comms director

Flannagan, who is charged with co-ordinating Crisis’s public affairs, PR and marketing activity, takes up the post in mid-January, reporting to chief executive Shaks Ghosh.

His appointment comes as Crisis strives to boost awareness of the ‘hidden homeless’ – the 380,000 people lacking a permanent abode but not sleeping rough – and shift perceptions of homelessness. ‘Just because you take people off the streets doesn’t mean homelessness has been solved,’ said Flannagan.

The charity is gearing up for its annual Crisis Open Christmas initiative, which sees it open a network of shelters providing food and basic medical facilities.

Flannagan worked on the rebranding of the British Diabetic Association as Diabetes UK. He has since worked as a consultant at pharma company Merck Sharp & Dohme.
