Financial Dynamics, which has held the Taylor Woodrow account for almost two years, is understood to be up against Wilson Connolly financial PR adviser College Hill Associates in the tussle. The Maitland Consultancy, Cubitt Consulting and Bell Pottinger Financial are also understood to be in the running, along with one other firm.
Taylor Woodrow director of corporate communications Ian Morris said firms had submitted their final pitches last week, but declined to name them. He added that an agency would be appointed to handle the combined Taylor Woodrow/Wilson Connolly account before Christmas.
Morris said Taylor Woodrow was still in discussions about the precise nature of the brief, but the winning PR firm would be concerned with Taylor Woodrow’s corporate reputation, its promotion as one of the UK’s biggest housebuilders and some management of the company’s policies on housing issues.
A number of market commentators criticised the firm’s £480m acquisition of Wilson Connolly in September, arguing it was paying too much for its rival. Under the terms of the deal, Wilson Connolly will be swallowed by Taylor Woodrow brand Bryant Homes, boosting the number of houses in the latter’s portfolio from 8,000 to 10,000.
