MARKETING MIX: Pen portrait - Ian Millner, Iris
Marketing, Thursday, 04 December 2003, 12:00am,
Ian Millner is joint managing director of marketing communications agency Iris. He rose up the ranks to new business director at below-the-line agency IMP after joining in 1993, before setting up Iris in 1999. Iris' clients include Shell, Puma, Sony Ericsson, Anheuser-Busch, Coca-Cola, Disney and T-Mobile.
The thick strokes of the pen chosen by this writer tell us a lot about his thinking and actions. Here we have someone who will apply a lot of energy to whatever he does. He has a vitality about him and will be known for seeking a wide range of outlets for release.
He can become so involved with whatever he does that those close to him on a personal level may on occasion feel a bit neglected. But he'll get away with it because he is caring by nature and can express his feelings with great warmth.
That big lower zone - the lower loops on letters such as 'g' and 'y' - mean the chances are high that he is quite physically oriented.
He is determined, energetic, sentimental, intuitive, focused, image- and detail-conscious, direct and very 'different'.
Matt Foulk, business development manager at Iris, says: Ian has a boundless energy, which leads to continually high levels of intensity, commitment and dedication - he is very much hands on. Ian is sentimental in the sense that he never forgets where he came from. He's not afraid to challenge convention when necessary. He is very active, a true alpha male, especially on the rugby field, despite the fact that he's getting on a bit.
