C&W wins brief to promote Voodoo Dolls beachwear
PR Week UK, Friday, 14 November 2003, 12:00am,
Australian women’s beachwear and surfing brand Voodoo Dolls has hired Cohn & Wolfe to handle a newly created consumer PR brief.
The agency won a four-way pitch against Focus PR, Shine Communications and Starfish Communications to secure the contract, reporting to European marketing manager Kate Seabrook (PRWeek, 19 September).
The remit includes trade and retail PR support and product placement in the mainstream fashion media, with a ‘showroom’ to be run out of the agency’s London office.
Board director Claire Mann, who will lead a four-strong team, said the campaign aimed to boost ‘understanding’ of the brand among consumers, media and retailers, in addition to promoting Voodoo Dolls’s sponsorship of professional boarders.
PR work will kick off with a press event to launch the summer 2004 collection, to be be sold in Selfridges, Harrods and 250 smaller outlets.
C&W’s appointment does not affect the remit held by Purple to promote the ‘Voodoo Dolls by Luella Bartley’ range of swimwear, board-shorts and T-shirts.
The brand is owned by the Stirling Group and Marks & Spencer supplier Bentwood.
