DIARY: Functional ambulance-cum-meeting room for sale: one careful owner
PR Week UK, Friday, 10 October 2003, 12:00am,
The febrile, wheeler-dealer atmosphere generated by the early weeks of Frank PR's Fantasy League season (Diary, 5 September) is spreading to non-football-related aspects of the firm's transactions.
While agency staffers occupy their lunch-hours emailing paltry offers for members of PRWeek's star-studded Fantasy League squad, agency co-founder Graham Goodkind is preoccupied with trying to flog the ambulance-cum-meeting-room that is parked in the centre of his office.
Frank is relocating to new premises but, as the new office is on the second-floor, Goodkind says the agency has 'reluctantly' decided to sell the meat wagon.
The vehicle has already been advertised on internet auction site eBay, where Goodkind bullishly claims it has been 'responsible for generating in excess of £1m-worth of new business in under two years'.
Goodkind, who stresses that Frank staffers are also partly responsible for winning business, promises 'a feature that pushes the boat out even more' in the new office.
If there are no successful bids for the ambulance - a grand has already been slashed from the £4,999 minimum-bid price since it was first put up for sale a fortnight ago - Goodkind says he'll reluctantly have to 'take a chainsaw to it'.
Goodkind adds that he plans an awareness-raising campaign about it among healthcare PR firms, one of which he feels would be a suitable home for the vehicle.
