Record number of entries for the IPR Excellence gongs

PR Week UK, Wednesday, 30 April 2003, 12:00am,

The IPR Excellence Awards have seen record interest this year with 334 entries – five per cent more than in 2002.

Judges have already shortlisted for the awards, which have an additional category this year as public/governmental affairs has been made distinct from local government.

Councils from Stockport, Tonbridge & Malling, Newham, Camden, Greenwich, Hackney and Brent are in the running for the local government title.

Five agencies have made the shortlist in the ‘Outstanding Achievement by a PR Consultancy’ category – including Lansons Commications, which won the category last year (PRWeek, 11 July 2002).

IPR assistant director Ann Mealor said three of the campaigns entered for the awards, which will be handed out on 7 July, will represent the UK industry at the World Public Relations Festival in Rome in June.

That event is being organised by the Italian Federation of PR, Global Alliance for PR and Communications Management and European PR body CERP (PRWeek, 25 April).
