Marquis named chair of Consolidated Communications

LONDON - Simon Marquis, chairman of media agency ZenithOptimedia, has been named chairman of PR and sponsorship firm Consolidated Communications.
Marquis retains his full-time role at ZenithOptimedia after recently relinquishing the post of chief executive to make way for Antony Young, who joined from ZenithOptimedia Asia earlier this year.
As chairman of Consolidated, Marquis will oversee the agency's next stage of growth. The agency's management staged a buyout in 2001 from founder Alaistair Gornall, and currently has a turnover of £5m. It was voted Consultancy of the Year at the 2001 PR Week Awards.
Consolidated managing director Sarah Robinson said: "Since our MBO, the agency has gone from strength to strength and, despite uncertain economic climates, we're picking up significant new business. Simon will help us manage this continued growth, support the board in achieving our strategic aims and generally bring to bear his years of experience in the broader marketing world."
Marquis joined ZenithOptimedia in 1998 and became chief executive in 2001. Before this, he was editorial director of Marketing magazine at Haymarket Publishing.
He is currently chairman of MediaCircle, a fellow of the IPA and a member of the Marketing Society.
