INTERACTIVE: Beatrice’s Guide
JANE OSTLER, digital communications pla, Campaign, Friday, 04 April 1997, 12:00am,
Beatrice’s Guide is a joint venture between Yahoo and Women’s Wire, and fills the gap between a search engine and a magazine neatly. Best of all, the whole site is written in an ironic tone that many Websites attempt, but fail at. The design is fresh and appealing, and the site has a definite personality and a voice. It’s aimed at women, but appeals to men too (judging by the section on favourite sites), and hits the right note for the Net-savvy. Under the various categories, I found some useful gardening tips, and fashion hints from New York.

According to USA Today, we live in the Age of the Amalgam. Continuing
with the theme of brand extensions, more Websites should get together
and reproduce. Imagine what the progeny of AltaVista and Omaha Steaks
would be, or Mediatel and FHM ...
