Public warms to Lunn Poly's 'no deposit' scheme
DANIEL ROGERS, Marketing, Thursday, 06 February 2003, 12:00am,
Lunn Poly's decision last week to introduce a 'no deposit' policy on its summer 2003 holidays could become the norm if holiday companies take heed of this week's Snapshots poll for Marketing.
Almost half (45%) of those questioned said a 'no deposit' deal would make them more likely to book their summer holiday early.
Last week Lunn Poly scrapped deposits to kick-start sluggish bookings, which appear to be adversely affected by fears of a war in Iraq.
Summer bookings for the big four operators between Christmas and January 19 totalled 66,000 - down 14% year-on-year. Early bookings are important for operators because they enable them to plan capacity during the peak holiday months of July and August.
