INDEPENDENT: The Independent and Independent on Sunday are rejigging their sports news operations as the IoS's football correspondent, Nick Towsend, becomes chief sports writer. Steve Tongue, currently football writer on the daily, will take over that role, while Jason Burt, night editor of The Independent, is moving to the paper's sports desk in Tongue's place.
