PUBLIC SECTOR: Met to learn from NYPD experience at police PR event

A New York Police Department PR chief, with first hand experience in dealing with the 11 September terrorist attack, is to speak at the Association of Police Public Relations Officers' annual conference next week.
NYPD deputy commissioner for public information Michael O'Looney is to speak under the heading 'Handling terrorism: learning from New York'.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police, which is organising the event, said the Met had been working more closely with the NYPD since 11 September.
She said delegates were keen to learn practical lessons from the NYPD, such as 'how to manage thousands of journalists at such short notice'.
Also at the event Surrey Police head of corp comms Sarah McGregor will discuss the Milly Dowler case. Matt Tapp, who advised the Cambridgeshire Police during the investigation, will also speak.
The event runs from 6 to 8 November in London.
