Pressure from the public affairs industry for substantial news on the Government's proposals to create a statutory register of lobbyists is building.

Reacting to a lack of specific information on lobbying reform in the Government’s Mid-Term Review last week, chairman of the CIPR Public Affairs group Simon McVicker said: ‘We are all growing impatient with the lack of progress and information from the Cabinet Office.’

A Cabinet Office spokesman said: ‘Following extensive consultation in 2012, the Government is pursuing this agenda and will publish revised proposals in due course.’

MP Chloe Smith took on oversight for the creation of the register from Mark Harper last September.
