Glasgow City Council has launched briefs on behalf of two associated organisations. PRWeek understands the tenders are on behalf of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and The Lighthouse, a national centre for design and architecture in the city.
A study has claimed police forces with a strong social media presence have better relationships with the public. The Composite study, Comparative Police Studies In The EU, was carried out in 13 different European countries, including the UK. It says: 'Social media not only calls for a different tone, it also allows police officers to talk about positive news, emotions, police culture and experiences of daily life.'
The Communication Workers Union has launched a campaign to highlight the threat to the UK's universal postal service and jobs within the industry. CWU general secretary Billy Hayes said: 'Competition and privatisation are old-fashioned theories that have had their day. What's important is decent services and jobs.'
Local government faces cumulative cuts of more than 40 per cent following the Chancellor's Autumn Statement, according to The Institute for Fiscal Studies. George Osborne revealed austerity measures were being extended to 2017-18.
