CIPR in move to review lobbying code

The CIPR is reviewing its code of conduct to include further instruction on lobbying, after a call for it to be more specific in its guidance to the industry.

Currently, the CIPR has only one code to cover PR and public affairs.

Insight Public Affairs MD John Lehal told PRWeek the current code was too 'generic' and that it 'needs to reflect what lobbyists are doing on a daily basis'.

He urged the CIPR to take on issues such as donations to political parties and the unacceptability of lobbyists holding passes to Parliament.

CIPR director of policy and comms Phil Morgan told PRWeek that the CIPR expected to have a revised code in place later this month.
