Euro PR replaces WSW on account for Linguaphone

PR Week UK, Friday, 01 June 2001, 12:00pm,

The Euro PR Group has bagged the pan-European PR account for

language education company Linguaphone.

The agency was appointed without a competitive pitch, replacing Weber

Shandwick Worldwide (WSW).

Richard Price, Euro PR managing director, heads a three-strong team,

which includes account director Sue Glanville and consultant Carolyn

Owen.

The team reports to Richard Avery, Linguaphone sales and marketing

director.

He said: 'We felt it was time to review our PR work and decided we liked

the change of focus offered by Euro PR.'

The brief, to be reviewed after 12 months, includes a press office role

and corporate work.

Euro PR's campaign involves a plan to link the firm with politicians

across Europe.

The British Government and the EU has named 2001 the 'European Year of

Languages' and, as a result, around 30 British MPs, including Labour's

Keith Vaz and Ann Taylor, are taking part in a Linguaphone initiative to

boost their language skills.

This year is Putney-based Linguaphone's centenary year. In addition to

traditional cassettes and books, its language learning products include

online facilities and CD-Roms.

Euro PR Group is the founding member of Euro PR, a network of agencies

across the continent which specialise in B2B, IT and healthcare PR.
