PoliticsDirect has rebranded as Brevia Consulting, after taking advice from creative consultancy Figtree.
Brevia is derived from the Latin verb 'to abbreviate' - apparently reflecting the agency's ethos of being straight-talking, quick and precise. Brevia MD David Beamer said: 'I expected to be presented with a shortlist of London streets or squares, but Figtree felt a descriptive name was the right choice.'
Fleishman-Hillard has hired Toby Fenwick, a director at financial advisory firm Portman Capital, as a senior policy adviser. Fenwick has also worked as a policy analyst at the National Audit Office and HM Treasury.
Lord McNally, the Liberal Democrat justice minister, has been awarded the CIPR President's medal for distinguished service to PR. A former Downing Street adviser, McNally was elected as a Labour MP in 1979 and defected to the SDP in 1981. From 1987 to 2004, he held roles at agencies including Hill & Knowlton and Weber Shandwick.
Legacy10, a charitable body set up by Finsbury chairman Roland Rudd, has appointed Scott Colvin as head of campaigning. Colvin takes on the role alongside his post as principal at Finsbury. The body encourages people to make the most of new inheritance tax breaks by leaving legacies to charity.
