At its 41st AGM, held yesterday at Hill & Knowlton’s London offices, the PRCA announced Clarke had won the contest.

Clarke said: ‘This is a pivotal time for PR – the industry is in its strongest state ever and increasingly is seeing the recognition it deserves for prospering during the current economic difficulties.’

She was previously business development director at Huntsworth PLC, president of Weber Shandwick Asia Pacific and CEO of Shandwick Welbeck London.

Clarke will serve a two-year term and work alongside a new PRCA officer team.

GolinHarris European MD Matt Neale is now the chairman of the PRCA Best Practice Committee after serving as treasurer. Steffan Williams, MD and co-founder of Capital MS&L, will take over the treasurer role.

PRCA chief executive Francis Ingham said: ‘It is testimony to the continuing vibrancy and growth of the PRCA that people of this calibre are happy to run the Association. This is a stellar line up for the period 2011 to 2014. And together we will shape our PR’s future over the next few years.’
