Opinion: Letters of the Week - Lancashire Constabulary's budget has actually decreased
PR Week UK, Friday, 25 November 2011, 12:00am,
I read with interest your article ('Under arrest: police budgets', Features, 18 November) and would like to explain the budget position that Lancashire Constabulary's corporate comms department finds itself in.
The figures returned in the FOI request asked for spend rather than budget.
The article reported that Lancashire Constabulary had received a five per cent, or £35,000, increase in budget from 2010/11 to 2011/12. In fact we have had a £221,000 reduction in budget.
While difficult, these reviews have afforded us the opportunity to ensure that we are future-fit.
Jane Astle, head of corporate comms, Lancashire Constabulary
