London Communications Agency director Luke Blair has written this week's public sector column, in which he reveals that he is leading the process to appoint a new director of comms at the Local Government Association, as part of his role as LGA interim director of comms. Essex County Council has promoted its campaigns manager to the top comms job. Eleri Roberts takes the role of director of comms after being at the council since 2004. She previously worked at Kinross + Render as an account manager.
THE Open University has undergone a restructuring of its comms unit to create four new roles: head of comms, students, staff and stakeholders; senior manager, public affairs; senior manager, research comms; and media relations officer for skills, jobs and careers. The process is being overseen by director of comms Lucian Hudson. The university has also renewed its contract with Edelman.
Scottish Development International has brought in Development Councillors International to handle two PR briefs to help it attract investment into Scotland. The New York-based agency will handle the briefs to promote Scotland to businesses in north America.
