BBC: losing 42 comms staff
The new site has been renamed the BBC Media Centre and went live this morning.
As revealed in July, the corporation is set to make around 42 redundancies from its 191-strong comms unit.
But BBC bosses hope the improved website will help make up for the loss of comms firepower.
Editor Ben Murray said: 'Earlier this year we began a project to improve the functionality, layout and content of the BBC Press Office website.
'As well as an updated design, we have focused on making the site easy to use, with richer content that is more searchable and shareable.'
Murray said the new site would also have more multimedia content as it develops.
The new site is organised into four key areas: Latest News; Media Packs; Statements & Responses; and Programme Information.
