The quarterly magazine is produced by customer publishing agency August Media. It is being sent out with grocery orders this week and has a print run of 50,000.

Contributors to the 32-page first issue include philosopher Alain de Botton, environmental writer and author Lucy Siegle, and chef and presenter Gizzi Erskine.

Advertisers include concierge service Quintessentially, Condé Nast Traveller and online fashion retailer Net-a-Porter.

Ocado co-founder Jason Gissing said: "The time we save them [customers] shopping for food will hopefully now be spent reading interesting, inspiring features and trying different things in their lives."

News of the customer magazine coincides with the retailer launching a discount scheme that offers customers a 10% to 15% discount on more than 500 brands.

Ocado saw its share price drop 11% yesterday (19 September) after reporting a slowdown in sales to 16.9% year on year for the 12 weeks to 7 August.

It also reported its customers' average order size for the 12 weeks to 7 August dropped year on year from £113.59, to £111.08.
