Autonomy previously used FD as its financial comms adviser, but is understood to have put FD on notice to switch to Brunswick just two weeks ago.

FD had handled Autonomy financial comms for 13 years and was called back in to advise the company once HP’s bid was lodged, given its longstanding relationship with the company.

Brunswick and FD are both working on the deal and are listed as ‘joint PR advisers’.

Autonomy, founded by Dr Mike Lynch and employer of 2,700 people in the UK, manufactures software that enables companies to search data.

HP’s £7.1bn takeover bid is part of a restructuring of HP’s business, which will see it spin off its PC businesses and shut down its phone and tablet arm to concentrate of software and IT services.
