Public Affairs: Lobbyists in Balls memo
PR Week UK, Friday, 17 June 2011, 12:00am,
Two senior lobbyists were caught off guard last week after they featured in a secret memo drafted by shadow chancellor Ed Balls and leaked to The Daily Telegraph.
Tetra Strategy founders James O'Keefe and Lee Petar were both mentioned in a handwritten note by Balls in 2006. In the note, Balls identified the pair as possible members of a '(David) Miliband for Leader Working Group'.
As PRWeek went to press, O'Keefe was on holiday and Petar declined to comment, but a source close to the pair said both had been surprised to learn that they featured in such a note.
The source was not aware of the pair's involvement in any such group in 2006.
