Tesco invests in Clubcard programme with new appointments

Tesco has restructured its Clubcard management team, promoting Janet Smith and creating three new director roles, as it looks to expand the scheme abroad.
The loyalty scheme is central to chief executive Philip Clarke’s growth strategy at home and overseas.
Smith, who was director of the team for three years, has been promoted to Tesco’s ‘work level five’, one level below the company’s main board. She will still report to Carolyn Bradley, the retailer’s marketing director.
Tesco has appointed Neil Adams as Clubcard operations director. Adams was previously the brand’s Malaysia marketing director. Ian Simkins, former managing director of a division of TUI Travel, joins as Clubcard rewards director.
Danielle Papagapiou has been appointed as Clubcard blueprint director, and will be developing the framework for the scheme as it expands internationally. All three new directors will report to Smith.
Separately, Tesco has appointed Matt Atkinson, EHS 4D group chief executive, as its group marketing and digital officer.
