Retailers hope to bring in bank holiday weekend shoppers with offers for furniture, DIY products and homeware advertised across today's press.

M&S advertises its "home event" in The Daily Telegraph, highlighting savings on homeware. The ads also appear in The Sun, the Daily Mirror, the Daily Express, the Daily Mail and The Times.

Focus DIY and gardening stores advertise "everything reduced" after the retailer entered administration. The ads appear in The Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail, reminding readers that all stores will be closing.

B&Q also offers weekend savings, telling readers of the Daily Mirror, the Daily Mail  and the Daily Express that it’s "the only place to be this weekend".

Harveys takes out a full-page ad in The Sun and the Daily Mirror promising readers they will pay "no VAT" on selected sofas.

DFS meanwhile, takes out a double-page spread in The Guardian to promote half-price sofas.

Staples includes a four-page pullout in the Daily Mail, highlighting offers on office equipment and furniture.

Tesco advertises savings on books, computer games, cameras and TVs in The Sun and the Daily Mail. Sainsbury’s offers deals on BBQ food in the Daily Mirror.

Asda also promotes its "big BBQ event" with a double-page spread in The Sun, the Daily Express, the Daily Mirror and the Daily Mail.

And ITV advertises its new detective series 'Scott & Bailey' in The Guardian, The Times and The Independent. The series starts this weekend.
