CharityComms has voted two new trustees on to the board. Following the first members' election, Victoria Shooter, director of comms at the National Deaf Children's Society, and Steve Palmer, press and public affairs manager at the Social Care Institute for Excellence, are joining the professional body for charity communicators.
Vox has been brought in by children's charity Jeans for Genes to handle public relations activity for its education programme. Vox's brief is to target professionals within the education sector through a combination of online, traditional media and stakeholder relations.
Viva Communications has won new business with the Swindon Children's Scrapstore, an environmental charity and social enterprise running a range of community projects. Stroud-based Viva is providing advice on how to promote the charity's various community projects, copywriting for marketing materials and helping to develop a low-cost brand identity.
Guerilla Gardening and Project Dirt have organised a 'Royal Weeding Day' to coincide with the royal wedding. Using a Facebook page, the two charities have signed up people to take part in local community environmental projects, such as planting flowers and pulling up unsightly weeds.
