A number of agencies have been contacted by the COI regarding the brief, with pitches due to take place at the beginning of next month. The Greater London Authority will oversee the process.
The successful agency will be responsible for creating print, digital and radio campaigns that raises awareness of the Mayoral and Assembly elections, which will take place on 3 May 2012.
The work will particularly look to highlight the need for Londoners to register if they want to vote in the elections. As many as five million people will be eligible to vote in 2012, however they will not be able to do so if they haven’t registered with their local borough council.
In the 2008 Mayoral elections, it was estimated that 10 per cent of Londoners – half a million people – were not registered to vote.
The advertising around the last London elections was handled by Farm Communications, while BLM Media was responsible for media planning and buying. Farm’s appointment came following a pitch against DLKW Lowe, MCBD (now Dare) and VCCP.
The 2012 London mayoral election, the fourth election since the post of Mayor of London was created in 2000, will see Boris Johnson try to secure a second term in power.
