British Gas tells readers why "a healthy British Gas is good for Britain" after releasing its financial results. The full-page manifesto appears across all the papers reviewed, many of which question whether the utility's jump in profits is fair on customers.

The Apple brand has been crowned the most prevalent at product placement within films. Editorial coverage in The Independent ranks the brand as the most featured at the box office during 2010.

Meanwhile, Currys & PC World advertise Apple Mac laptops in The Times, while Comet advertises the iPad in The Guardian.

Tesco advertises its own-brand range of Cheddar, promoting deals in the Daily Mirror, The Sun and the Daily Mail.

Rival Asda places promotions for its deli counter foods and meat in the Daily Mirror, and Sainsbury's focuses on computer console offers, with ads also in the Daily Mirror.

Harrods takes out an ad in The Times to promote its 40% off its home-range offer, while Laura Ashley advertises 25% off all products in The Guardian.

The Royal Bank of Scotland tempts first-time buyers in the Guardian with a mortgage deal.
