HONG KONG: Warburg Dillon Read, the investment banking arm of
global finance house UBS, has appointed Mark Panday as head of media
relations and employee communications across Asia.
Panday started last week in the Hong-Kong based role, reporting to
Warburg’s head of corporate communications Renate Boerner. Before
joining the bank, he was a financial journalist working as senior editor
of the International Financing Review Asia. Prior to that, he worked for
finance journals Euromoney, the International Securitisation Report and
Fund Research.
In addition to its country PR heads, who report to Panday, Warburg
retains Gavin Anderson and Company in Asia and a roster of other
agencies on a project basis. Panday’s post covers all of Asia-Pacific
except for Japan and Australia, markets which are considered
’self-contained’ by the local financial PR community.
Until his appointment, Panday’s role was split between Boerner and
Matthew McGrath. McGrath left Warburg last month to become managing
director of Citigate Dewe Rogerson’s Asian operation based in Hong Kong.
