Hertz Europe has filled the role of European public affairs manager
six months after it fell vacant.
The company has appointed Vivian Stuart-Mossop to the post, following
the departure last June of Graham Wynn to head media relations for
utility firm Powergen.
Stuart-Mossop joins Hertz next month, fresh from a spell in public
affairs in the banking industry. In her new role, she will report to the
company’s vice-president for legal and corporate affairs, Nuns Moodliar,
who reports to the company president, Charles Shafer.
Stuart-Mossop will run a team of three in London, working closely with
PR manager Adrian Leighton. The individual public affairs heads in each
of Hertz’s four European markets will also report to her.
Stuart-Mossop’s brief extends beyond straight public affairs to include
media relations, trade and consumer PR and strategic communications
advice to senior Hertz staff.
Hertz Europe is the EMEA division of Hertz International, the global
vehicle hire subsidiary of the Hertz Corporation, almost wholly-owned by
US car giant Ford Motors.
The company uses travel PR firm Compass Communications in the UK, but
maintains a network of agencies across Europe. In France, Hertz uses
BDDP, in Germany, Contact and Creation, and in Italy it uses
Dragonetti.
Hertz owns a fleet of over half a million cars, rentable from almost
6,000 locations in 140 countries. The company employs nearly 25,000
staff worldwide, and made sales in 1999 of pounds 3 billion.
