PUBLIC SECTOR: Welham to tackle public sector PR image
JENNIFER WHITEHEAD, PR Week UK, Friday, 25 February 2000, 12:00am,
Carl Welham, the new chair of the IPR Local Government group and PR head at Reading Borough, is to tackle the poor perception of local government PR and communications as the group’s top priority over the coming year. The initiative comes as councils struggle to attract high-calibre candidates and local government communications continues to suffer from a staid image within the PR industry. Welham said the group would work with council politicians to find a solution and provide practical support for those already working in local government communications to help their careers.
