The two-hour show, on ITV1 and ITV1 HD between 7.30pm and 9.30pm, was watched by an average of 17.16 million viewers, a 54.9% share and the biggest ever audience for ‘The X Factor’.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing' results semi-final, in which rugby player Gavin Henson was voted out, attracted an average audience of 11.58 million across BBC One and BBC One HD between 7pm and 7.30pm, a 41.1% share of the TV watching audience.
On Saturday night a peak audience of 15.4 million viewers watched the first part of ‘The X Factor’ final on ITV1 and ITV1 HD, a share of 56% and the biggest ever Saturday night audience for the show.
An average audience of 14.05 million, a 52.6% share, watched the two-hour ‘X Factor’ show between 7pm and 9pm on Saturday on ITV1 and ITV1 HD, 1.7 million more than last year’s final attracted.
On BBC One, Saturday’s offering of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ delivered an audience of 10.58 million between 6pm and 7pm including BBC One HD, a 43.1% share of the TV watching audience.
The first episode of the second series of modern-day dating show ‘Take Me Out’ returned to ITV1 with an average audience of 6.23 million, a 26.5% share, between 9pm and 10pm on Saturday.
On Saturday evening ITV1 had an average audience of 10.3 million, a 41% share, between 7.00pm and 10.30pm while BBC One was watched by an average of 3.8 million viewers, 15.2% of the TV watching audience over the same period.
ITV was charging up to £250,000 for 30-second spots during ‘The X Factor’ final programming and is expected to have raked in £25m over the two shows.
