Flack: Favourite restaurant, Roux on Parliament Square
PR Week UK, Friday, 26 November 2010, 12:00am,
The public sector axe may have fallen, but lobbyists are finding ways to survive, judging by the healthy crowds at their favourite restaurant, Roux on Parliament Square.
Flack clocked Connect Communications MD Gill Morris, Insight Public Affairs MD John Lehal, Hanover director Andrew Harrison and Westbourne Communications consultant James Frayne getting stuck into their diver-caught Scottish scallops and organic lemon tarts last week. In these austere times, there were not quite so many politicians to accompany the public affairs folk, but the chief whip Patrick McLoughlin was seen tucking in. What would Dave say? ... More PROs were working themselves to the bone at Hartsbourne Golf Club, which held the unofficial and inaugural UK Consumer PR Open last Friday. Three 'big hitters' of consumer comms saw Frank's Graham Goodkind, Cake's Mike Mathieson and Seventy-Seven PR's Alan Twigg (sold your agencies recently lads? Ed) battle it out. Mathieson took an early lead, but succumbed to Goodkind over the closing holes ...
Finally, after a week of spurious royal wedding-related press releases (Irish Ferries? Kenyan car hire?), full marks go to Fire PR for keeping on top of the story. Within moments of the confirmation of the date, an email pinged its way to Flack inviting it to a 'champagne reception' at a London hotel on 29 April to celebrate.
