Voluntary Sector: PR drive on street kids
PR Week UK, Friday, 15 October 2010, 12:00am,
Retrak, a Manchester-based charity working with street children in Africa, has signed up Souter PR to promote its partnership with Greater Manchester Police.
Twenty volunteers from Greater Manchester Police will travel to Ethiopia next month to help children as young as seven who are living on the streets of Addis Ababa.
The volunteers will also give sports coaching to the children, as well as training the staff in several areas including trauma counselling.
Retrak helps street children to return to life in a caring and stable family environment, either with their own family, foster family or by living independently.
Souter PR MD Sue Souter said the agency would be 'building awareness of Retrak's critical fundraising and hands-on support'.
The agency's role will focus on raising the profile of the volunteers taking part, telling their stories and backing their fundraising and community engagement activities.
