Virgo Health receives abuse after company with similar name appears on Watchdog

In a show screened last week, Nottinghamshire-based mobility company Virgo Healthcare was investigated by the BBC show over allegations it was encouraging elderly consumers to pay over-the-odds for its mobility aid products.

Surrey-based PR shop Virgo Health was forced to issue a statement to clients after the show aired to ensure they did not confuse the two companies.

The statement read: ‘We are as shocked and appalled as everyone else at the way the Virgo Healthcare featured on Watchdog has conducted its business and are happy to assist in redirecting any calls we receive to Derbyshire Police to ensure that justice is done.'

The agency also contacted the Watchdog programme to make it aware of the confusion arising and updated its website, blog, Twitter and Facebook sites.  

On Watchdog editor Jeff Anderson's blog, he is quick to point out that Virgo Healthcare should not be confused with Virgo Health.

Virgo co-founder Angie Wiles said in her blog that the agency had reacted quickly following the programme's screening.
