Kevin Murray, AEA Technology’s director of corporate affairs, has landed the top PR job at British Airways.
Kevin Murray, AEA Technology’s director of corporate affairs, has landed
the top PR job at British Airways.
He joins BA on 1 July as director of communications, reporting to
director of corporate resources David Holmes. His responsibilities will
include both internal communications and media relations - a team of 50
staff and some 50 agencies worldwide.
Acting director of public affairs Peter Jones has been asked to stay on
as head of media relations, reporting to Murray. Jones was unavailable
for comment.
British Airways has been hunting for a candidate to head up BA’s
internal communications and public relations activities since the two
departments were merged earlier this year (PR Week 26 January). Since
then the job has been carried out by Jones on a temporary basis.
Murray has headed AEA’s internal and external communications activities
since 1994, when it was split off from the Atomic Energy Authority. He
also holds additional directorships for change management and AEA’s
laboratory at Harwell in Oxfordshire.
Murray will be succeeded as director of corporate communications by
Andrew McCree, AEA Technology’s general manager of communications.
