Design Council triumphs at PR Week Awards

Innovation in British industry took centre stage at the 1998 PR Week Awards when the Design Council scooped two awards - the Campaign of the Year and the Public Affairs Campaign - for its ’Millennium Products’ Creative Britain Campaign.

Week Awards when the Design Council scooped two awards - the Campaign of
the Year and the Public Affairs Campaign - for its ’Millennium Products’
Creative Britain Campaign.
The annual event was held on 27 October at the Grosvenor House, on
London’s Park Lane and attracted more than 1,300 guests. Paul Volcker,
chairman of the six-member Independent Committee of Eminent Persons, was
named as European Communicator for his efforts in the committee’s drive
to retrieve the assets of Holocaust victims. Philip Dewhurst was voted
PR Professional of the Year for his work as Railtrack’s corporate
affairs director.
The Red Consultancy won the Consultancy of the Year and the Natural
History Museum’s seven-strong PR unit was awarded In-house Department of
the Year.
In total, 28 prizes were awarded, including a new Proof Award, which
went to British Airways for its employee TV service BATV.
The awards were chosen by a panel of 25 judges selected by PR Week.
