Cabinet Office chief press officer Zoe Paxton is to be deputy head of news at the Department for International Development.
Paxton, who will report to head of news Charlotte Morgan, said: 'I thought it would be an exciting job as aid and development is such a hot topic at the moment. There's a big challenge in letting people know how and why their money is being spent.' Her role at the Cabinet Office is expected to be filled shortly. Meanwhile, the Cabinet Office is to launch a cyber security awareness campaign aimed at improving the web security of consumers and small and medium enterprises.
Councils are set to be told their public health budgets today (11 January) following delays to the budget announcement.
In an interview with Local Government Chronicle, Public Health England CEO Duncan Selbie said that the 'hard deadline' had been set to reveal the budgets. This follows a series of consultation exercises carried out by LGComms around the transfer of responsibility for public health to councils.
Correction PRWeek wrote Sophie Payne had been appointed to head up comms at Gloucestershire County Council (14 December). She is actually joining Buckinghamshire County Council as head of comms, following five years at the Department of Health, rather than ten.
