Public Sector: The Public Sector Week
PR Week UK, Friday, 30 September 2011, 12:00am,
Shadow education secretary Andy Burnham has written to the Cabinet Secretary to complain about 'political' comms appointments at the Department for Education.
Burnham wrote to Sir Gus O'Donnell last month, questioning civil service appointments in the DfE with political backgrounds, including Elena Narozanski, Michael Gove's former special adviser.
Mason Williams Communications has won a competitive pitch to deliver a series of PR projects to communicate the family-friendly offer at the Imperial War Museum North. The two-year contract starts next month, with the agency promoting October half-term family fun activities.
Hackney Council's head of media and external relations Polly Rance writes this week's column on behalf of the CIPR local public services group. In it, she responds to claims that Hackney refused to allow a drama to be filmed in its estates because it was concerned about tourism. Martha Lane Fox, the Government's 'digital champion', has tweeted in support of the Go On Leeds campaign, which is running this week with the aim of encouraging people to use the internet for the first time.
