White House new media adviser joins Edelman.
Edelman has hired former White House new media adviser Michael Slaby as executive vice-president and global practice chair for its global digital division. He moves from venture capital firm TomorrowVentures and previously worked on Barack Obama's presidential campaign.
Coca-Cola is relaunching its main UK-facing corporate website and has employed digital agency Zone to lead the revamp following a competitive pitch. The site is already launched in a beta test version at coca-cola.co.uk. This website replaces several company sites with one designed for consumers, journalists and industry users, and fits into Coca-Cola's ongoing campaign to engage with mothers who control household spending budgets.
Saltwater Communications, the technology and maritime PR specialist, has promoted account director Saul Trewern to its board of directors. Having worked on a variety of sectors for the Poole-based company over the past two years, Trewern now makes the step up to take on a more strategic role. Among Saltwater's PR account wins this year is Norwegian company Vizada Networks, which specialises
in tailor-made regional and international broadband fixed satellite services and hybrid network solutions.
Microsoft has called in specialist online PR agency 33 Digital to run a social media campaign to promote its Windows Mobile technology platform in the UK. The company is running the Mykindofphone.com website, and has created accompanying Twitter and Facebook accounts. 33 Digital, which was spun off from technology PR firm Hotwire last year, will also have responsibility for engaging with tech-savvy consumers.
