Westminster Reporter
Westminster City Council
The Westminster Reporter is run on an editorial policy that bans Government jargon and puts appealing design high on the List of priorities.
The result is an entertaining, bi-monthly magazine by Westminster City Council that is overwhelmingly regarded by residents as being informative. According to a poll by MORI in 2005, residents who read the Reporter said they were far more satisfied with council services than residents who did not.
With a strong tendency to report lifestyle issues in order to create appeal among its economically and ethnically diverse Readership, the Reporter is delivered to the highest possible number of residents with the aim of informing them about council activities.
The magazine is staffed by a dedicated editorial team that ensures consistency of quality.
The overall aim of the Reporter has been to establish a communications channel with residents to provide timely, reliable and relevant information about the council's services and policies.
On this measure, the Reporter has also been successful, with the vast majority of readers saying the magazine is informative.
Mindful always of its commitment to informing all sections of its community, the Reporter takes care also to reflect the numerous ethnic minority communities in the city with tailored content for each ethnic group. According to the 2001 census, Westminster is incredibly diverse. As a city of 230,000 people, 49 per cent of its residents were classed as White British.
So successful is its combination of targeted, entertaining content and well-thought-out design that it is the most widely Read publication in the borough - ahead of local news and community publications.
With a print run of approximately 115,000 copies, the council distributes 100,000 copies to residents' homes, with the remaining 15,000 distributed to council buildings, including libraries, One-Stop shops and leisure centres.

Argos Post
Argos
The Argos Post balances topical business news and local stories in a way that is accessible to the firm's 17,000 employees across its diverse operations in the UK. It is written and designed to be a 'fast and friendly' read using icons and graphics as well as accessible language.
Readers' surveys show the hybrid newspaper-magazine is trusted and enjoyed by employees, partly because the editor, Andrew Pill, is given editorial independence and open access to all board members.
