Pleon has lured Nick Morris from an associate director role at Bite Communications to be its first UK director of tech.

Morris will leave Bite next week after seven years at the agency. At Pleon he will take charge of clients including Nortel and IBM.

He will head a team of around 15. He told PRWeek: ‘Pleon is well established in the technology arena, so I won't have to establish the office. But there is still some work to do.'

He will assume the clients of Pleon's associate director Claire Dell, who is going on maternity leave.

‘The role is very exciting but not daunting,' said Morris. ‘I'm particularly looking forward to expanding Pleon's mobile and wireless business, as I have a heritage and contacts in that area.'

He added: ‘I'll sit down with Pleon UK CEO Geoff Beattie in July and we'll assess whether there are any other areas for expansion.' Morris joins in the first week of July.

At Bite, Morris is responsible for a team of ten, working for clients that include Toshiba, BT and Gartner. Prior to Bite he worked as an account director at Band & Brown Communications, with clients including Cisco. Earlier in his career, he was at Miller Shandwick Technology and Harvard PR.

The appointment of Morris completes a top-level revamp at Pleon, with his arrival coming hard on the heels of that of Jennifer Helfer as London MD last month (PRWeek, 26 May).

‘It's a different company to a year ago,' said Helfer. ‘We now have three distinct divisions: tech, consumer, and corporate/marketing.'

She added: ‘Nick's level of team management experience is very hard to find right now. We are looking to hire again across all levels.'

Morris reports to Helfer and Beattie.

Recent Pleon wins include printer firm Kyocera Mita (PRWeek, 2 June) and classic computer brand Commodore (PRWeek, 17 Feb).
