The Copyright Tribunal has subsequently ordered the NLA to pay the PRCA and Meltwater’s costs.
In additon, the Tribunal has also fixed a timeframe for the trial. There will be another procedural hearing in June 2010 before the trial begins in February 2011.
PRCA communications director Richard Ellis welcomed the Tribunal's decision: ‘We are delighted by this initial ruling and look forward to hearing the Tribunal's detailed reasoning.
‘It is over a year until the trial begins in earnest and in the meantime we will continue to lobby both the Government and the opposition to highlight our objections to the NLA's proposal.’
Meanwhile, the PRCA has launched International Membership for leading agency and in-house communications teams. The first members to join are Best, WorldCom, Geelmuyden Kiese and Viewpoint.
