Diary: The loneliness of the long-distance lovers.

It’s not all plain sailing for celebs in love: look at Brad and Gwyneth, Naomi and Joaquin, Adrian and Katerina. Adrian and Katerina?

It’s not all plain sailing for celebs in love: look at Brad and

Gwyneth, Naomi and Joaquin, Adrian and Katerina. Adrian and

Katerina?

PR stars of course.

Like Pitt and Paltrow, Adrian Wheeler, managing director of GCI London,

suffers long separations from his betrothed, the very lovely Katerina

Koudelova, executive director of GCI Prague. Wheeler, who ties the knot

next month, says that BT and Czech Airlines have been making something

of a killing.

Despite the pressures, Wheeler says that, unlike certain supermodels,

neither he or Katerina have had trouble with antibiotics. Their

secret?

’When you are only together for two days a week, you have to make the

most of all your time together.’

Caroline Thomas, who sold her fashion PR outfit Caroline Thomas

Publicity to GCI in 1991, also suggests that having two partners in

successful PR careers is not all glamour.

Thomas - whose husband Christopher Broadbent, Ansdell Group chairman,

started his company in her office basement - says: ’We were two stressed

people with a young baby and something had to go - and we wanted to hang

on to the baby.’

She is now a freelance consultant - outside PR.
